01-05-2010 Manchester City Vs Aston Villa

This could be the most important match in the race for that crucial fourth place champions league spot and Man City will be hoping that home advantage is enough for them to put their noses in front in this race to the wire.

Roberto Mancini s obvious selection dilemma is who to play between the sticks for this critical game. With first and second choice keepers Given and Taylor both out injured, City were given special dispensation to bring in another keeper to act as cover. Martin Fulop has been brought in on loan from Sunderland although it is not clear whether Fulop will be selected to start, with Nielson also available to Mancini. Lescott, Petrov and Johnson all still miss out for Man City but in reality it is a near full strength squad which Mancini can select from. This is of course a critical match for Mancini, with Man City just one point behind Villa with a game in hand. A loss to Villa, though, would leave them four points behind with just two matches left.

Martin O Neill s side have defied expectations this season, in that they have maintained their form right through to the end of the season. Last year they fell away horribly but this year despite a slight slump, they come into the final couple of games of the season with a real chance to grab fourth place. Currently lying in fifth on equal points with Tottenham but with one game less to play, this game is an absolute must win for Villa. O Neill can count on a near full squad to choose from but with a strong Man City team holding home advantage, it is going to be an uphill battle for the Villains.

Verdict: Man City Home Win
